China needs more professionals for exhibitions

China needs more exhibition professionals to meet the huge demand for expo services in the country, experts told the third China Expo Forum for International Cooperation in Shanghai last week. 中华民俗节庆网

Only 1 per cent of the 1 million people who work in the expo industry at present were designers, which is not enough to meet the demands of the World Expo 2010 Shanghai. 1155815.cn

It was also suggested that the industry's practitioners should take more professional tests, such as a Certificate in Exhibition Management (CEM), to approach international standards. 1155815.cn

More than 600 representatives from 17 countries and regions worldwide discussed the influence of China's economic development on the expo industry, opportunities brought about by the World Expo in Shanghai and investment risks to expo firms during the three-day forum.
