Chinese Course to be Open in Philippine Universities

The Philippines Higher Education Office denoted that they would open Chinese as a selecting course in the universities and colleges to step up the country's opening to the global market.

According to Philippines Business Report, encouraging schools to teach Chinese is part of promise by the government to the Philippine Chinese society.

No.22 Memo of the Higher Education Office reads: Chinese is"contributed by the Philippine Chinese society and plays a very important role in the economic and social development".

An officer of the Higher Education Office said that China is so great a market that they cannot ignore it when entering into the world market.

She added that they should communicate with Chinese people in ASENA countries including the Philippines.

So far there is only several private schools providing Chinese courses in the Philippines and most universities offer merely Spanish and French courses.
